About Rolling Editing
At Sandy’s Archive, we embrace a dynamic process called Rolling Editing, where our works continue to evolve long after their initial creation, reflecting our ongoing journey. We periodically revisit and re-edit the same raw materials, ensuring they remain fresh and aligned with our vision. For instance, the OC Fair 2021 project was first edited in August 2021, shortly after it was shot. A second edition followed in mid-2022, with a third revision in late 2023. What you're viewing now is the fourth edition, completed in early 2024.
Each revision involves careful reselection, retoning, reordering, and, at times, reimagining the narrative. This process is not bound by schedules; revisions occur whenever we feel a new perspective is needed.
In parallel, we are actively organizing and curating our archives, accumulated over the past decade. While this is a gradual process, we are making steady progress, with new content being uploaded regularly. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we bring this important work to completion.

The Anthropologist – Specialization I – 科尔维尔 Coalville
This specialization from The Anthropologist program examines the resilience of Coalville, a small town in Summit County, Utah, that has largely resisted modernization. Founded in 1859 by Mormon pioneers, Coalville's identity remains deeply rooted in agriculture and coal mining. While much of the country has transformed, Coalville retains a timeless quality, sustained by its connection to the land and its close-knit community.
Historically a coal production hub, the town attracted settlers, particularly British immigrants, whose influence still lingers. Despite the closure of the mines, Coalville’s rural character endures. The landscape is still shaped by family farms, ranches, and generational businesses that stand as testaments to the preservation of tradition.
What sets Coalville apart is its steadfast embrace of these traditions. The town remains free of urban influences like traffic lights, and the Summit County Fair, featuring livestock auctions and rodeos, continues as a vibrant community event. Far from being a relic of the past, it affirms Coalville’s agricultural roots and enduring spirit.
Each photograph in this project captures a town where time has slowed, revealing a place that chooses continuity over change. In a rapidly developing world, Coalville stands as a rare example of a community that lives by its own rhythms, grounded in respect for history and tradition.

A Timeless Voyage – 力多船长 Captain Lido
Captain Lido is my personal and captivating collection of logbooks, chronicling my adventures since the christening of my vessel. This entirely private project within Sandy’s Archive serves as a deeply personal visual autobiography, where I intimately share the story of my voyages and the reflections that have shaped me over time. Each logbook entry offers a window into my experiences, guiding you through the ebbs and flows of both the ocean and my own growth. As I recount each passage, you’ll find not only the narrative of my life as a sailor but also the unfolding mysteries of the sea, the challenges I encountered, and the quiet poetry and contemplation that accompany every journey. These logbooks reveal my transformation, both as a mariner and as a person, as I navigate the waves of life with curiosity and resilience, forever connected to the boundless horizon.
